The Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) of Camarines Sur/Legazpi City Albay and Mariners Polytechnic Colleges (MPC) in Naga City commemorated the 32nd Death Anniversary of Engr. Jaime ‘Boboy’ Jimenez, Jr., the institutions’ former Vice President for Administration in simple ceremonies and activities held at the Naga, Legazpi and Canaman campuses.
The activities that mark the ‘Alay Kay Boboy 2022’ commemoration in pictures: (Clockwise) – The streamer at the entrance of the school and near the Chapel that reminds the members of the Academic Community of the event, the Thanksgiving and Commemorative Mass that ensued, the conveying of Message by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Evita Jimenez-Tuazon and the ‘Kurit’ poster making contest participated by children from the barangays of Canaman, Camarines Sur.
Despite the inclement weather, the ‘Alay kay Boboy’ yearly activity of the Mariners’ System honoring the late Engr. Jaime ‘Boboy’ La. Jimenez pushed through on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the Canaman campus.
The event carried the theme “Solidarity and Sharing for Resilient and Sustainable Communities” or “Pakisumaro asin Pagheras Para sa Masarig asin Nagdadanay na mga Komunidad”
The gathering was initiated by the three Community Extension Services Offices from MPCI – Naga, MPCF – Legazpi, and MPCF – Canaman, done in cooperation with the Tabang Bikol Movement.
The activities include the Thanksgiving /Commemorative Mass, ‘Kurit Aki’ – a positive psycho-social intervening painting sessions for kids, the Gift-and-Food Giving, and Parlor Games which went as planned for the different kid-beneficiaries from the locality.
The Awarding Ceremony for the Painting and Drawing contests were done during the Tabang Bicol Movement Year-end Party. Messages of hope, prosperity, care, and joy were delivered by the MPCF’s Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Madame Evita Jimenez – Tuazon and from the members of the Jimenez Family who were connected via FB Livestream.
School President Dr. Marilissa J. Ampuan, Executive Vice President Dr. Gabriel L. Jimenez, and VP for Student and External Affairs – Alfred Karlo J. Ampuan also conveyed their respective messages as broadcast via Zoom Technology set-up by the IT Department and by the Office of the President.
Among those who attended the Mass (face-to-face and on-line) were VPAA – Dr. Edgar P. Despi, Consultant Dr. Cely Binoya, former VPESA – Napoleon P. Mangente, the ManCom members, staff from different offices, faculty, and students.
After The Mass, the celebrant Rev. Fr. Conrado Ma. Flores, FI gave his blessing to the children. Parlor games and a dance contest ensued which were assisted by the School Librarian Imelda Belale and Dean of Maritime Studies Engr. Jefferson O. Roy.
Meanwhile, the parlor and dance games for the Kurit Aki Kids followed at the Jaime’s Social Hall. It was facilitated by Community Extension Service Officer (on-leave) Ms. Emilia S. Lanuzo and Senior High School Principal Ms. Neneth G. Madronero.
A similar gift-giving and mini-games activities were conducted for the children at the covered court of Bgy. Haring , Canaman, Camarines Sur. It was managed by the staff of the school’s Community Extension Services.
The activity was also assisted by CGAOTC Commandant Alexander M. Aco with his Corps of Officers, Teacher Volunteer Engr. Dulce B. Dionisio, MaCoVo members, and other volunteer-school employees.
