Our Lady of Peñafrancia visits MPCF campus in Canaman, Camarines Sur
The annual visitation of the image of Our Lady of Penafrancia, Patroness of Bicolandia to Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) campus in Baras, Canaman, Camarines Sur was held on August 30, 2023.
Traditionally called “Pagsungko” or “Visit”, the images of the Patroness together with the Divino Rostro were escorted by the members of the Mariners Community composed of school officials, faculty, staff and representatives of students’ organizations. It was a solemn procession from Our Lady of Assumption Parish Church in downtown Canaman to the School Chapel.
The Marineros carried the images via a foot procession, reflective of the community’s devotion to Ina. Upon arrival at the school campus, a liturgical Mass was celebrated which was presided by the Rev. Godofredo Rueda Jr., the parish administrator.
Once at the school chapel, a prayer vigil was held the whole day with the administration represented by Executive Vice President Dr. Gabriel Jimenez and the members of the Management Committee leading the way.
The activity was an act of thanksgiving for the intercession of Ina on the many blessings the institution and school personnel received through the years, especially at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was also an occasion to honor Our Lady of Penafrancia as the academic community chanted inside the school campus, “VIVA LA VIRGEN, VIVA EL DIVINO ROSTRO”!
