MPCF, Tabang Bikol Movement and LGU conduct gift-giving to indigenous people
The Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) of Canaman, Camarines Sur in collaboration with Tabang Bicol Movement (TBM) organized a gift-giving activity dubbed as “Pagheras sa Pasko”.
It was held at Iraya Elementary School in Barangay Iraya, Buhi, Camarines Sur on December 15, 2023.
On the part of MPCF, the event was spearheaded by the Community Extension Services Office (CESO), and Mariners’ Community Volunteers (MaCoVo) in coordination with the Tabang Bikol Movement headed by its Chairperson Madame Evita Jimenez-Tuazon, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Buhi, Camarines Sur, the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Office, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO).
The project aimed to bring joy to more than 100 selected students from grades 1 to 3 from Barangay Iraya. Mr. Eric Lucena, MPCF’s CESO Director expressed gratitude to everyone involved that made the event possible. This includes the school’s faculty, staff, and alumni.
According to TBM Chairman Tuazon, who is also Board of Trustees Chairperson of MPCF, the project carried the theme “A Golden Christmas at Mariners Community: 50 Years of Service in the Bicol Region”.
Through this activity, the academic community showcased the true essence of gift-giving and the Christmas spirit to this group of indigenous people.
