Mariners’ Community remembers Engr. Jaime ‘Boboy’ Jimenez in “Ginintuang Alay Kay Boboy 2023”
The Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) of Camarines Sur commemorated the annual institutional activity remembering the untimely passing of Engr. Jaime “Boboy” L. Jimenez, Jr., an educator, son of the school’s founders and a community volunteer, as well.
Activities were earmarked from December 15 to December 20 which were highlighted by the ‘Pagheras sa Pasko’, the ‘Kurit Aki Para sa Kalikasan’, the 33rd Commemorative Mass, Gift-giving, and the Awarding Ceremony.
The affair on December 20, 2023 started with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Alfred M. Baisa held at the school chapel. This was attended by the members of the Jimenez family, some close friends, the academic community and friends of Boboy.
After the Mass, the ‘Kurit Aki’ activity started with 130 plus children-participants. Lectures and demos followed led by volunteer artists – Mr. Fidel Dela Torre (a professional artist), Mr. Jebo Padernal (an alumnus of MPCF and professional artist), and Midn. Romulo Gatpandan (BSMARE student and artist) together with the Sipocot Youth Artists.
A program ensued in which sharing of special messages for the kids were made by School President Dr. Marilissa Jimenez-Ampuan, VP for Program Development & Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Evita Jimenez -Tuazon. From the Tabang Bicol Movement (TBM) group, Dr. Cely Binoya, and from LGU Canaman, Camarines Sur, the Hon. Alma Basmayor joined the activity.
It can be recalled that prior to the main event held at the school campus, outreach activities were held in which gift-giving activities to more than 120 children done by Mariners Community Volunteers (MaCoVo) at Brgy. Iraya, Buhi, Camarines Sur and 75 kids by the COM at Brgy. Binanuanan Pequeña, Calabanga, Camarines Sur.
A total of more than 325 kids were reached this year thru the kind initiatives from the school leadership, faculty, staff, alumni, the student body and other partner sponsors.
