Mariners Schools join the BFHE assembly; receive award as Outstanding School-Member, other recognition 

 

Naga City – The Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF) of Canaman, Camarines Sur and the Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPC) in Naga City participated in the General Assembly of the Bicol Foundation for Higher Education (BFHE) held at the Ateneo de Naga University on April 17 and 18, 2023.

This is the first time that the organization conducted an event again after almost three years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Commissioner Alfred Darilag of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) was the event’s Guest Speaker.  Issues and concerns affecting the HEI’s were the center of discussion in the two-day affair.  It adopted the theme, “Emerging from the Pandemic, Looking at the Future”.

The BFHE is an organization of Public and Private Higher Education Institutions in the Bicol Region represented by the school administrators. It is headed by its President Fr. Norberto Ezequiel Rivera, S.J. from the Ateneo de Naga University.

On the part of the Mariners Schools, Dr. Cely Binoya was chosen as one of the Judges and Moderators during the panel discussions and in the presence of CHEd officials from the Regional Office.

One of the awardees during the occasion is Mr. Eric Lucena from the Extension Services Department of MPCF-Camarines Sur. He was adjudged as Best Paper Presenter and given a certificate and cash prize.

Meanwhile, MPCF-Canaman and MPC-Naga were recipients of recognition as most outstanding schools and most Active School-Members of the Bicol Foundation for Higher Education in the Region.

MPCF President Dr. Marilissa Jimenez Ampuan said, “We are proud of our Institution – the MARINERS System for having been active especially in the initiatives in the Research and Extension Programs of BFHE, done in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education in Region Five”.
